Ahhh, sunny Arizona. A place in the dry desert best known for its hot climate and appropriately named “Valley of the Sun.” Arizona is also the home of the beloved Grand Canyon, where deep ridges and valleys cut a winding and colorful gorge that has long been viewed as a national treasure. Along with housing the world-famous Grand Canyon, Arizona’s state capital is Phoenix, named after that mythical bird that rises from the ashes reborn. Phoenix houses a little over 1.6 million occupants, with an astonishing 58,000 vapers. With so many cloud chasers in a single city, vape shops have sprung up like cacti, ready to serve the needs of vapers everywhere. Let’s take a look at some of them and see how well stocked they are, how their levels of customer service are, and how the appearance both inside and outside looks. If you’ve been to any of these shops, or have a suggestion to make, please let me know in the comments below! As a travel vape blogger, it’s so important to make sure that fellow vaper travelers have the most relevant shops and information available to them. So let’s dive right in, shall we?
1. Haus of Vapors
First on our list of Phoenix vape shops is Haus of Vapors. Google rates them a 4.7 with nearly 75 reviews, which is usually the lowest rating I’ll accept for a shop. I put this on my list of vape shops to visit and set out to see it for myself. Something that’s really important to me about a shop is not only atmosphere and friendly customer service, but that the vape shop is well-stocked. And by well-stocked, I mean lots of options, not just a few flavors on a shelf. Boy, was I happy when I walked into Haus of Vapors! The entire wall was covered with an e-liquid shelf where stacks of e-liquid were ready for cloud-hungry vapers. I was pleased to see that while there were quite a bit of e-liquid flavors that lined the wall, every box was neatly displayed and not just jammed into an available slot. Their hardware was neatly displayed in a glass case, with the latest vape kits (both pen-style and box mod) from Smok and Vaporesso. The entire shop was clean and well lit, with a ping-pong/pool table and a basketball hoop in the back of the shop for vaper entertainment. Their leather high-back bar stools and couches were comfortable and encouraged lounging after you’d completed your purchases. Five large TV’s were displayed at the bar-style counter, with four being completely devoted to their in-stock vape ware, and one TV available for leisurely viewing. The staff were friendly and personable, and even gave suggestions on what e-liquid to try next. I was very pleased with this place and would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area, and even if you’re not!
2. Phoenix Vape Supply
Second on our list of vape shops in the Phoenix area is the Phoenix Vape Supply. True to its name, this store has an excellent supply of all things vape, from hardware and accessories to e-juice and CBD products. I was impressed to see that Google rates this shop at a 4.9 out of nearly 80 reviews, so I made my way to the shop to check it out. My first impression upon walking into the shop was that it seemed cluttered and a tad disorganized; however, I realized that it due to the sheer volume of things that were stuffed into every available space. It was almost like walking into a man-cave for all things cloud-related, which meant that while they weren’t afforded the luxury of open space, they kept just as many products in stock as the bigger shops. I quickly realized that the 4.9 rating was due to not only the amount of cloud-related products but also to the amount of professional courtesy that this shop extends to their customers. I watched as one customer was assisted in setting up his RDA and taught on how to use it, something that’s often a daunting task for beginner drippers. Their e-liquid selection included some of my personal favorites like Aqua and Dinner Lady, along with some lesser known brands like Excision and WTF. My personal favorite was the jar of burnt coils they kept on the desk, like the spoils of victory on display. Unfortunately, I had just changed my coil so I couldn’t contribute to the pile, but it definitely made me want to return when I needed to change the coil, just so I could say I helped! Great store, great atmosphere, great customer service, and great products. I encourage you to stop by if you’re ever in the area; you won’t be disappointed.
3. This Old Vape Shop
Third on our list of local Phoenix vape shops is This Old Vape Shop. Google rates this shop a 4.8 with over 150 reviews. It’s always encouraging to visit places with high ratings in spite of a high number of review. Plus, I love funky names for places, so my interest was instantly piqued upon coming across this place. I stopped in for a quick browse and instantly fell in love with the interior. If I could use one word to describe this place, it would be “comforting.” From the wooden overlay on the walls to the deep wood-grain floors and soft lighting, this place felt like the shop to hang out for hours on end. The shop was fully stocked with a large rack of e-liquids with several stools lined up to the bar, while the hardware was sealed in a clean and sturdy glass case. The place was recently renovated, so the entire shop had a clean and fresh look to it. I was cordially greeted when I entered the shop and was asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I love to ask the staff what their favorites are and see if they’re giving their honest opinions or just trying to get rid of me! This shop had quite a few brands I’d never heard of, like PMS (Pineapple, Mango, Strawberry) and Mums Elixir. I personally liked Mango Berries by Coastal Cloud and happily stocked up on several new brands I was curious to sample. Overall, this was a fantastic shop with a lot of new options and superb customer service. I highly recommend for either a quick stop or a lengthy lounge, and I look forward to going back!
4. Red Star Vapor
Number four on our list of local vape shops is Red Star Vapor. Google gives this place a 4.7 rating out of nearly 300 reviews, which goes to show you what excellent customer service they give. Red Star Vapor also happens to be a custom e-liquid bar, meaning they mix the ejuice right in front of you. If you don’t like it, they’ll make you a new one until you’re satisfied. The interior of this place was fantastic, with a huge fireplace in the center of the room giving off a suave atmosphere. If house-made vape juice isn’t your thing, they also have a huge selection of ready-made brand name e-liquid that you can satisfy your cloud-chasing cravings with. Triple arches section off the pre-made e-liquid sections, which give the entire place an enchanted castle kind of feel. A TV is mounted over the center arch and directly across from the fireplace, inviting new and old customers alike to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere of sweet-scented clouds. Their hardware wasn’t as extensive as some other shops in the area, but they had all the popular mods from Smok and Vaporesso. They also had a price sheet for building coils, which was something I’d never seen before. I voiced my inexperience with purchasing house-made coils and was carefully walked through the process by one of the staff. Altogether, this was a very classy vape joint that I’d love to visit again, not only for the awesome castle vibe I was getting but also for the attentive and kind staff that runs the place. I rate this place as five stars, and I’m sure if you take the time to visit, you will too!
5. Butt Out
We’re almost there! Fifth on our local vape shops in the Phoenix area is Butt Out, which is an outspoken LGBT vape lounge where custom juices are mixed to perfection. Google rates them a 4.8 out of nearly 150 reviews, which shows how loyal both the vaping and the LGBT community is to their vape shops! If you’re looking for a really cool, really colorful, and really rebellious spot to hang out, you’ve got to check out this shop! Their housemade ejuice menu was full of names like Crowley (a beloved Supernatural reference), Mister Freeze (always room for a Batman joke!), and Friend or Faux (which is actually a pretty good play on words!). The staff were super chill and gave me their opinions on what house-made juices were their favorites. They have a beautiful mural of customer pictures, showing off their loyal fan base. Their prices for housemade juice are a little on the high side, but it’s important to remember that you’re paying for the experience and not just the actual e-liquid. Being able to walk into a place like this was a truly unique experience and it was the first time I’d ever heard of an LGBT lounge. Yet it was good to see a love for all humans and sexual orientations crowded together under one roof, sharing a common passion: vaping and enjoying each other’s company. If for nothing more than the experience, stop by here and see how great the customer service is, how chill the atmosphere is, and how wonderfully artistic this place is!
6. Vape It Up AZ
Number six on our local Phoenix vape shops is Vape It Up AZ. Google gives this place a 4.9 out of nearly 90 reviews, and once I made the trip, I could see why. As soon as I walked through the doors, I was greeted warmly by the man behind the vape bar at the back of the shop. Brightly colored LED lights swam lazily over the walls, making me feel like I’d walked into a club instead of a vape shop! Their entire left wall was a huge glass cabinet of e-liquids and hardware, while even more e-liquid was lined up near the bar. Comfortable looking high-chairs lined the bar, while plump armchairs were clustered near the center of the room, making the shop welcoming and well-frequented. I was delighted to see that a good deal of their hardware was Smok, since that’s the easiest hardware to find coils and glass for. They also sold starter kits, single tanks, and drip tips. I was thrilled by their vast collection of e-liquid, which included heavy hitters like Humble eJuice and Air Factory. There was a pool table located near the back of the room as well, which I was delighted to discover. If you haven’t tried vaping while you shoot a friendly game of eightball, you seriously need to try it! The clouds and the clicking of ceramic spheres into corner pockets make you think you’ve gone back to the days of classic gangsters and pool sharks. But I digress! Vape It Up AZ was a great place to stop by and enjoy myself, and I heartily agree with the 4.9 rating.
7. Vape Escapes
And lastly, but certainly not least, our seventh and final vape shop in Phoenix is Vape Escapes. Google rates them a 4.7 out of over 60 reviews, so I headed over to see for myself how the customer service was. I’m a sucker for themes, so I was super excited to see how this place was in person after reading the reviews online. I walked through the door and felt like I’d stepped into a teleportation machine...the entire interior of the place was set up like a beach vacation, complete with beach chairs, conch shells, surfboards, and mini palm trees! I laughed as I entered, which earned me a warm and friendly smile from the guy behind the counter. The hardware was displayed behind a glass case with a beach background, propped up on lounging chairs, nestled amongst starfish, and neatly lined up on the sand. What I didn’t realize before heading to this particular shop was that this shop specialized in in-house juices, with humorous and witty titles like Black Mamba, Raging Bull, Banana Nut Bread, Jungle Juice, and Snowman’s Kiss. The only downer was that while I was able to sample some of the flavors, nothing really jumped out at me as being mind-blowingly delicious. Maybe it was the quality of flavoring or brand of VG or PG, but it wasn’t the best. But that’s the risk you take when trying in-house e-liquids; you’re at the mercy of their ingredients and skill level when mixing. I really went for the browsing experience and having a love for all beach-related things, I wanted to see how the interior of the place was in person.
