So you want to enter the wonderful world of vaping? No doubt you’ve seen the monstrous clouds and impressive devices that avid vapers wield like weapons in the race of cloud chasing prowess. But you have no idea where to start. Some of these devices range from tiny USB devices to whopping four battery kits that look and feel like they weigh as much as a five-pound dumbbell. So where do you start? What’s a good price? What brands are good? And what color, lights, and screens should they have? Beginning your journey down the road of vaping has a lot of twists and turns, and it’s very easy to get lost in the labyrinth of vaping if you have no idea what you should be looking for. But fear not! This article looks to be your light at the end of the tunnel, your string through the maze, and your missing puzzle piece. We’ll go over some of the best devices on the market, what they cost, and what you should consider as you begin your quest for a good starter kit.
Before we start rattling off vape tanks and mods that make up these starter kits, let’s start by looking at Smok vape kits. Pronounced just like “smoke,” nearly every piece of vaping hardware produced by this company is a heavy hitter. Smok quickly gained traction as the best brand simply for the innovative designs, wide-ranging colors, and interactive screens. Quite a bit of this list contains Smok vape products, simply because they are durable, somewhat affordable, and are predominantly the most popular hardware item carried by vape shops. You’ll have no trouble finding replacement glass and coils in-house for most Smok Products, whereas different device hardware like Eleaf and Aspire vape setups might be better shopped for online. And now, without further ado, let’s dive into our six starter kits from Smok!
1. Smok T-Priv 220W TC
First up, we have the delightful T-Priv 220W TC. This device comes in a whopping amount of colors, twenty-three to be exact and promises to be every bit as delightful in your hand as it is in the picture! As if that amount of colors isn’t enough to whet your whistle, the chassis is fitted with brightly lit LED lights that are fully customizable to fit every vaper’s preferences. The setup also comes with Smok’s highly popular Big Baby TFV8 Tank, featuring an e-liquid capacity of 5mL of your favorite e-liquid. Vape Wild sells this kit here for $47.99, which is actually pretty low for vape kit costs. If you like lights and aggressive designs, Smok has created the ultimate vaping device just for you.
2. Smok I-Priv 230W
Secondly, we have the Smok I-Priv 230W. While the T-Priv was all about lights, the I-Priv is all about voice command. You read correctly, voice control! The device comes in an array of vivid colors and bears an extremely strong resemblance to the arc reactor of Marvel’s Iron Man’s suit (especially the gold and red options). There is a list of commands that the device recognizes and responds to (listed here), and you can choose between three voice options to have the device respond to. While this may seem super cool at first, keep in mind that the device is only programmed to respond to certain voice commands, and sometimes may not immediately recognize your voice commands. But that’s not to say that this device isn’t worth your while, not by a long shot! In addition to the sexy chassis, the I-Priv comes loaded with the stunning TFV12 Prince tank. With a fascinating snakeskin design and an elongated tank glass that can hold up to 8mL of e-liquid, you’ll be well on your journey of cloud-chasing enjoyment. Element Vape sells this kit here for $64.95, just a bit lower than the popular G-Priv. If you’re looking for a great starter kit that’s on the higher end of the price spectrum with more durability than just the touchscreen feature, then the voice-controlled I-Priv is the way to go!
3. Smok G-Priv 2 230 Luxe Edition
Thirdly, we have something a bit more challenging with the G-Priv 2 230 Luxe Edition. And while you might be tired of seeing -Priv on your list by now, let me assure that each of these devices are unique and amusing in completely different ways. Equipped with a fully functional touch screen, the G-Priv offers the same flexibility as swiping through your phone’s touchscreen. The familiarity of the device makes this a great product for vapers, but the same downfall that goes for your smartphone also applies to your touch screen vape: if dropped, the screen may (actually, most definitely will) crack. While it might be easy albeit expensive to replace your phone’s touchscreen, replacing the glass screen on your vape may prove to be extremely difficult. As with all vapes, use caution when using your device, but try to be extra careful with this one. But that’s not to say that this device doesn’t have its perks! The starter kit comes with the highly impressive TFV12 Prince tank, which is yet another of Smok’s innovative creations. With a tank that features a horizontally elongated tank to hold up to 8mL of your favorite e-liquid, this monster promises to produce clouds all day long! Vape Royalty sells this kit here for $69.95, making this kit a little more expensive but definitely worth every penny. If you’re looking for a device that allows you to smoothly transition from your phone to your vape, then this vape kit might very well be your match made in heaven!
4. Smok Species 230 V2
Fourthly in our list of delightful Smok products is the Smok Species 230 V2. This device sports the newest and coolest of the tanks that Smok has produced called the V2 tank. This tank holds up to 5mL of e-juice, and comes with a ton of upgrades, like a push-button that releases the hinged cap to open. The o-ring is now located on the top of the swivel-head, making refills easier and without fear that you might dislodge the o-ring when loading up on your favorite e-liquid. And what better to fire this powerful tank that with a powerful mod? The Smok Species mod features a touchscreen embedded in the chassis, allowing you to swipe through the features and customize your device how you want it. EightVape sells this kit here for $49.99, which is on the medium end of the price range, and definitely an excellent bang for your buck.
5. Smok GX 350W TC
Next, we’re getting into the larger four-battery mods. Fifth in our list of Smok devices is the SMOK GX 350W TC. This kit is powered by a whopping four batteries, allowing you to make the most out of your batteries and puff on clouds for days at a time without recharging. The mod can fire up to 350W, which is mind-blowing when you stop and think about it. The chances of you vaping that high are somewhat limited since most Smok tanks can only fire up to 200 or so, but if you use a dripper from Vandy Vape (sold here on Element Vape), you just might be able to achieve higher wattages. Anyway, back to the GX350W! The vape kit would seem to be bulky but actually curves to fit neatly in your palm to provide high-powered clouds. Paired with this impressive mod is the TFV8 tank, which holds up to 6mL of your favorite e-liquid. Now you might be wondering why you’d need such a huge mod with four batteries that seem heavy and bulky. This mod is actually well designed for learning vape tricks. Since you’ll need to be practicing, you’ll be hitting the firing pin much more frequently than the daily or occasional vaper, and you’ll need power that can last you much longer than other starter kits. Breazy Vape sells this kit here for $64.99, a bit higher than other kits, but when you consider that you’re purchasing a four battery mod, this is actually an excellent price for all-day power.
6. Smok GX 2/4
And sixth in our list of Smok devices is a four-battery mod called the Smok GX 2/4. This mod is impressive because it’s one of the few mods that converts from a four battery to a two battery. This becomes a life-saver when you don’t want something heavy in your pocket all the time, but having the ability to choose between a two- and a four-battery mod can be the difference between social vaper and profession vape tricks performer. MyVaporStore sells this kit here for $49.99, which is albeit midrange on the price spectrum, yet much cheaper than the newer GX350. For incredible versatility and unprecedented battery options, definitely consider the GX2/4 for days when you simply can’t decide between all-day power with four batteries and convenient stow-away with two batteries.
7. Sigelei Fuchai GLO 213
Now that I’ve thoroughly exhausted you with Smok products, let’s take a look at another heavy hitter in the vape game: Sigelei. Sigelei has long been a powerhouse for crafting small yet powerful devices that delight the vaper with their designs. First up on the Sigelei list and seventh in our list overall is the Sigelei Fuchai GLO 213. Priced at $39.95 (sold here at Element Vape), this is easily the cheapest starter kit on our list! The mod comes with a small OLED display buried in its chassis, with simple buttons to streamline your cloud production. The adorable SLYDR L tank has a 2.8mL e-liquid capacity, allowing you to go through multiple flavors after you’ve finished one tankful and would like to try something different. The Fuchai GLO fires up to 230W, making this a versatile mod for those looking for high power when they need it.
8. Sigelei MT
Number eight on our list of vaping devices for Sigelei is the Sigelei MT. The fabulous MT220W Mod on this starter kit has the entire screen aglow with six individual LED strips that keep your screen info interesting! The MT22W mod has a firing capability of up to 230W, and is activated by pressing on the cat-like face that is actually the firing button (two eye-like slits are cut into the button, making it seem like glowing eyes are staring at you). The REVOLVR tank has a 4mL e-liquid max capacity easily screws off for quick mess-free refills. Element Vape sells this kit here for $59.95, which is on the higher end of the vape kit prices. The Sigelei MT is definitely one of the flashier starter kits, and what’s not to love about the plentiful LED lights that are ready to light up your clouds!
9. Vaporesso Switcher
We’re almost there! Only two more starter kits left, and they are brought to you by Vaporesso. Ninth on our list is the Vaporesso Switcher, which was designed after the highly popular Transformers movie. The Blue/Red LE Version even comes with built-in LED lights all on the side and part of the front, making this a beautiful gift for all the Autobots fans who vape. The mod is capable of firing up to 230W, has a beautiful 0.96 OLED screen with all the device information, and features a convenient lock button in addition to the firing pin to ensure it doesn’t accidentally fire in your pocket or purse! Paired with this mod is the aggressive NRG tank, which boasts an e-liquid capacity of 5mL and features a top that easily slides over for quick refills. This limited edition kit is sold here by EightVape for the even price of $52, perfect as a mid-range option for vapers looking for a wickedly cool design at an affordable price.
10. Vaporesso Revenger X
And last but definitely not least on our list is the Vaporesso Revenger X. The bright chrome coloring of the hard-shell chassis makes this arguably the most noticeable of the mods, reflecting sunlight off every corner. This beautiful kit features the Revenger X Box Mod, capable of firing up to 220W and has a convenient magnet battery door that allows you to swap your dead batteries for fresh ones in a matter of seconds. The firing pin is discreetly located on the side of the device while the touchscreen allows you to customize the device options to your preferences. The NRG tank can hold up to 5mL of your favorite e-liquid and also sports the slide-n-fill top for quick and easy refills. Breazy Vape sells this kit here for $59.99, which fits into the medium range category. For those who want a flashier colored mod, this is definitely the device for you!
And that, my dear beginner vapers, is the comprehensive list of excellent starter kits on the market now. Are there more than just this list? But of course! Vaping is as widespread as cell-phones, constantly upgrading and evolving as new technology progresses. There are some nic-salt devices that look like iPod shuffles (the IQ Mini) and others that look like USB drives (the infamous JUUL). There are some sub-ohm mods that look like bricks (the Wismec Reuleaux RXGen 3) and can be bulky and unwieldy. And there are still others like the ELEAF ISTICK Pico, in that while they’re good for beginner vapers, they will quickly be replaced by dual battery mods with higher wattage, greater e-liquid capacity, and a variety of color and lighting options. The purpose of this piece was to explain that yes there are quite a few starter kits that are cheaper and more discreet, but it all depends on whether or not you’ll be a frequent vaper or a social vaper. For those of you who don’t mind spending money twice, perhaps it would be more advantageous for you to purchase a small device and slowly progress to a larger and more interesting vape kit. But as always, vape happy and good luck in your journey to total cloud domination! Hopefully, one of these excellent starter kits will lead the way on your cloud chasing adventures, and may your days be filled with beautifully puffy and flavorful clouds!
